Community

Jesus came to knit all the peoples of the earth into one family, the beloved children of God.  Here at Holy Child and St. Martin, we seek to embody the hospitality of Jesus in our common life.  We are a diverse, multicultural, multigenerational community.  Whatever your nationality, culture, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation, you are warmly, warmly welcomed here! We share a rich life as a fellowship, with vestments, music, and liturgical language that reflect a variety of cultures. You might come on one Sunday and be treated to a celebration of a Peruvian saint, with liturgy in Spanish, and traditional foods to share after the service. Another Sunday, you might hear traditional Anglican hymns sung by a children’s choir.  We have people who come to us from the Philippines, China, Japan, and Korea.  We have folks from Africa and Polynesia, and people of various European backgrounds.  We may come from vastly different cultures, but we are one in the Body of Christ.

We seek to nurture community through our Sunday fellowship meals, through informal parish gatherings, and fun activities such as camping trips, bowling, and skating outings.  We really enjoy being together, and there is a lot of laughter and joy at our events!  We are there for each other, to bear each other’s burdens, support each other, and to encourage and comfort in times of sorrow.  Through the love of one another, we experience the love of God, which we then share in the world.
